⭐dust is largely a self-taught artist, though she’s been taking lessons from time to time recently. While she drew anime characters and painted Bob Ross paintings growing up (as any good nerd does), she fell out of making art while pursuing her other artistic interests in singing, dancing, and musical theatre.
To her, art (in all its mediums) is the highest form of human expression; it’s what separates man from beast. It’s how we learn about ourselves, and it’s how we cope with the joys and terrors of what it means to be human.
One of ⭐dust’s life/career goals is to create empathy through art. Given that art is uniquely positioned to help us understand the human experience, she wants to use her talents (artistic and otherwise) to help cultivate the capacity for empathy that all humans possess…
In the meantime, ⭐dust will donate a portion of the net proceeds of every sale to charitable organizations. Past or current orgs include the ACLU, RAICES, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, AITAF, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Black Art Futures Fund, Black Girl Freedom Fund, National Black Food and Justice Alliance, and Loveland Foundation. Note that she is not affiliated with any of the aforementioned organizations.
